About me
Artist Statement:
I am, an artist.
What sort of artist though you may ask?
I am an interdisciplinary artist who works across a range of different mediums on personal projects that often connect to myself, my identity, memories and emotions. I work in a concept led way, where I usually pick my theme to research before exploring what medium I could best develop that project in. I like to make work that involves the audience or the public in a more engaging way, by creating more immersion or three dimensionality in my work and installations, or by having interactive parts in my exhibitions where the viewer can contribute. I enjoy challenging people’s perception of art as well as using my art to educate, inform or make people think. The other aspect I have worked with a lot is emotions and utilising art as a way of healing or working through common human issues. I have also worked with bigger themes related to current affairs, mental health and climate change.
I have been brought up in rural West Wales, and I am currently based in the bustling creative and literary town of Aberystwyth. My first interest in art came in the form of photography, and that developed into exploration in painting, printmaking, videography, installations and poetry. In the last couple of years, I have moved towards a more mixed media way of working creating projects, that are often larger three dimensional installations. I studied a BA in Creative Arts at Aberystwyth School of Art before graduating in 2025, I am now rejoining them to study for a MA in Fine Art. I have a particular interest in combining my art practice with science, politics and community engagement, I have also developed text-based art, and I’m interested in the power of words in my pieces. Along with my recent degree show, I have exhibited my work several times at Aberystwyth Arts Centre whilst on my university course and took part in student led exhibitions in the art school and in the town, more recently I was selected for the Young Welsh Artists exhibition in MOMA Machynlleth.
